The next time you are tempted to worry, please meditate, think about, and believe the following truths:

  • You are more valuable to God than birds and flowers and He provides for them (Matthew 6:25-32)
  • You are a child of God and God will take care of you (Matthew 6:25-32)
  • God knows all about your needs even before you ask (Matthew 6:25-32)
  • Worrying is not part of the things that should occupy our thinking (Philippians 4:8)
  • Other believers have or are experiencing similar temptations and difficult circumstances and are being victorious (1 Corinthians 10:13)
  • Your difficulties have a divine purpose (Romans 8:28)
  • God is a God of all grace. There is no situation in your life in which God’s grace is not enough (1 Peter 5:9; 2 Corinthians 12:9; 2 Corinthians 1:20)
  • God is personally at work in your life to make you more like Christ (1 Peter 5:10)
  • God is in control of the “bad” things you think are happening in your life because He is in control of everything (Daniel 4:35; 1 Peter 5:11)

Bottom line: Trust God with all your problems!  Worry is a sin!  It is serious. But we don’t have to worry because God’s grace is more than enough!

This cross is the heart of the gospel; it makes the gospel good news. Christ died for us; He has stood in our place before God’s judgment seat; He has borne our sins. God has done something on the cross which we could never do for ourselves. But God does something to us as well as for us through the cross. He persuades us that He loves us.
