As we look forward to Mother’s Day, I will post a few thoughts the next few days.

“A Christian woman does not put her hope in her husband, or in getting a husband. She does not put her hope in her looks. She puts her hope in the promises of God…She looks away from the troubles and miseries and obstacles of life that seem to make the future bleak, and she focuses her attention on the sovereign power and love of God who rules in heaven and does on earth whatever he pleases. She knows her Bible, and she knows her theology of the sovereignty of God, and she knows his promise that he will be with her and help her strengthen her no matter what. This is the deep, unshakable root of Christian womanhood.”–John Piper

Peace to you!

“Great peace have those who love your law; nothing can make them stumble.” (Psalm 119:165, ESV).

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” (Romans 15:13, ESV).

“May the God of peace be with you all. Amen.” (Romans 15:33, ESV).

“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 1:3, ESV).

” As they were talking about these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace to you!”” (Luke 24:36, ESV).

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” (John 14:27, ESV).

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”” (John 16:33, ESV).

” On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.” Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.” Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”” (John 20:19-26, ESV).

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26, ESV).

The last of my entries from Ed Welch for awhile.  Again, I would encourage you to get this book if you have struggles with fear, anxiety, or worry (or even if you are worried that you do).

“For the most part, [needs] are, at root, desires run amok.”

“I am a servant of the King and my purpose is to make Him famous.”

“When in doubt, repent!”

“When we feel rejected, we can still ask the question, “How can I love this person?”

“Every living thing dies, but only humans die with ceremony.”

“With technology that can extend the amount of time we are sick, the actual way we die is an increasing fear.”

“It is one thing to be courageous in the face of the unknown. It is something else again to face the known.”

“Trust God and do the next right thing.”

“Nothing done in obedience to the Father is mundane or ordinary.”

“Many tasks vie for our attention, and each wants to be done before all others. When you get to the place of paralysis, ask for help. What do others see as the “next thing” in your life? How would they prioritize the tasks in front of you?”
