Do you believe that Acts 17:30-31 is true? Do you believe it will happen?
“The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.”” (Acts 17:30–31, ESV)
Do you really believe there will be a judgment day?
According to the passage above, God has judgment day marked on his calendar. . . and He isn’t going to erase it! He is going to judge the world–that means everyone of us. For those who reject His Son, that is very bad news. Those who flee to Christ for salvation however have an Advocate, Jesus Christ! Our sin has been judged in Christ at the cross.
But I don’t think most people in our country believe that there will be a judgment day. If there is one, they think they will be spared. They don’t see that they have too many serious flaws. And even if they did, God is so kind and loving and in the end He won’t really judge us. Other console themselves into thinking that if there is a judgment of God and they end up in hell, then it’s OK because they will just spend some time with some quality friends.
Well the demons know better than we do on this. For when they met Jesus in Matthew 8:28-34, they implied in their conversation that there will be final torment for them and it won’t be a skip in the park.
My friend, judgment day is coming! “And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,” (Hebrews 9:27, ESV). Be ready for that day by trusting Christ alone as your eternal hope and salvation!
